Fall____NH_Road.jpg

In an article by Michele Dawson of  Realty
Times e-newsletter, there were some great tips offered to help
sell in the fall.

Fall here in the Seacoast is just gorgeous,
and these tips will help you incorporate that beauty into your home to
help potential buyers see that beauty as well!

Some of these tips are common sense, and some
add a really nice welcoming feeling to potential buyers and their
agents, and they all offer homeowners easy things to think about doing
if their house is for sale.

—   “Curb Appeal”
– never forget to think about those all-important ‘first
impressions’.  With the gorgeous colors of fall leaves, this can
add to a home’s already existing appeal, however all those leaves
laying around on the ground certainly don’t.  Clean them up!!

—   “Celebrate the Season”
this is one that I have to admit I wouldn’t have given much thought
to.  Embrace the fall and have fall decorating items–hang a nice
fall wreath, arrange some pumpkins & corn stalks – what a nice way
to greet people at the front door.  Nothing says ‘welcome’ like a
nice display of seasonal things at the entry of a home!

—   “Let the Light In” – oh
how important this one is!!  If you have heavy curtains or drapes,
open them up and let the sun shine in!!  Turn on lamps and make
your home exude a warmth and welcome for showings.

Portsmouth NH ~ 375 Years of History ~ Strawbery Banke Museum

Strawbery Banke Houses - Portsmouth NH - Ann Cummings Copyright 2007

If you’re a history buff, then Portsmouth New Hampshire is the place for you!  Portsmouth
was settled in 1623, and history abounds everywhere here.  We have
numerous historical homes open to the public for tours, as well as
museums, galleries, and privately-owned historical homes all over town.

One of our special places for those who love history is Strawbery Banke, in the north end of Portsmouth, just off the downtown area along the shore of the Piscataqua River.

Strawbery Banke
got its name from the English explorers who settled here in 1630
because of the abundance of wild strawberries growing all over the
place.  This settlement became the beginnings of one of the
country’s earliest cities.  And yes, it really is spelled
‘Strawbery’ and ‘Banke’ – this spelling goes back to the Colonial days.

Houses, Cars and Money

Have you ever heard that saying, “Frugal Yankees“?  Well, it would appear that it really is true!

A.G. Edwards has announced their annual “Nest Egg Index” which
rates communities and states around the country based on a variety of
factors – putting money away for retirement, personal savings,
investments and investing behavior, home ownership, personal debt
levels, etc.
