As you can see from the sign that greets you when you drive into New Castle New Hampshire, you’re driving onto a very quaint and charming island, dating back to the early 1600’s.
There are a good number of homes on this cluster of small islands that date back to the 1600’s, that are being lived in still.
From
the narrow winding streets, you’ll see some really stunning antique
homes, gorgeous water views of the Piscataqua River or the back
channel, and a slightly modern day view of what life back then might
have been like.

Portsmouth’s New Library – Welcome to the ‘Hood!

We’ve got a brand NEW Library here in Portsmouth. It is just a beautiful building, both inside
and out. The landscaping still has to be done, and that will be
taken care of in the spring. Even without that, it’s
gorgeous!
I took this picture of the sign made by the Portsmouth Middle
School, which is right next door to our new library. I thought it
was really cute to see this, and a great indication that everyone
has been so looking forward to opening day!
I was able to enjoy a
very nice guided tour of the library, and there are so many really neat
things that we now have that our old library just didn’t have the space
to offer. It is probably one of the nicest libraries I’ve ever been in!
The new library is in a great location – it’s right next door to the Portsmouth Middle School,
and it’s a really quick walk to all the downtown neighborhoods.
Sidewalks line the streets, so kids don’t have to walk or ride their
bikes in the street to get to it.
With 38,000 square feet of space,
compared to 15,400 in the old library, there’s plenty of room for all
kinds of really neat features that just couldn’t be accomodated before,
and there’s room to grow, too.

New Hampshire Demographics

The New Hampshire Association of REALTORS has a demographic
advisor who provides us with monthly trends around our state, and
gives us comparisons with the country and within our New England
region.
I thought I’d
share some interesting things about our little state of New
Hampshire from one of our monthly trends letters.
We rank in the top states for
several social indicators: We are ranked 5th in the
country for median family income; we are ranked 9th in the
country for our percentage of college graduates; we are ranked
12th in our average travel time to work; we rank 3rd for
percentages of households that are married couples, and we’re 7th in
rankings for those percentages of couples where both work.

Portsmouth NH Movie Theater Makeover

WOW – what some great use of color can do!! This is our newly remodeled 15 cinema theater
in Portsmouth New Hampshire – doesn’t it look just great with those
splashy fun colors?? I think it does, and I love what they did!
This theater is the Regal Cinema 15 Theater, located at Fox Run
Crossings in Newington New Hampshire. Newington actually is a
tiny town whose commercial development areas are usually mistaken for
being in Portsmouth. That’s okay – we’ll claim them!
In addition to this lively and
inviting exterior makeover, Regal Cinemas now offers some great young
family programs as well, As a way to entice a new audience, Regal
Cinemas here in Portsmouth NH began focusing on young couples and
couples with young children who don’t typically go to the movies.
